For 25 years I bred and raised Normal Gray Zebra Finches. I tried to give it up but just couldn't. The last couple of years I kept several pairs for my own personal enjoyment. Then one day in Jan. of 2005 I went into an Exotic Pet Store. They had a cage full of Lady Gouldians. This was the first time I ever seen any Lady Gouldians and I fell in love at first site. The following weekend there was a Bird Fair in Pasadena, Texas. I wasn't able to buy any birds because I had errands to do that day. But while talking to one of the Lady Gouldian breeders, I realized we only lived a couple of miles from each other. I asked if I may come by and see his Bird Aviary. I went over the next day and I couldn't resist buying a pair and the rest is history.
I love seeing what colors emerge from these beautiful birds. They turn from an ugly featherless chick to a beautiful jewel. I am a native Texan and I live in a small town just North of Houston, TX. I think I got the love of birds from my grandmother. I can remember her always having a huge pen of chickens and ducks. She also had a flight cage of pigons. I would stand in front of it for hours looking at them and watching them feed their chicks. I never thought I would be doing the same thing when I grew up.
All of my birds are raised and bred in an on site Bird House that my husband Jim built for me. Being that Texas heat can get up into the 100 degrees during the summers and down into the teen's in the winter we installed an AC and several heaters in the Bird House.
Marigold's Fancy Finches will always be a work in progress. I will be adding and deleting pictures as my finch flock grows. If you have any questions, please e-mail me. Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to read how I got hooked on these beautiful finches.
The Summer of 2002 I decided to quit my full time job as a Medical Insurance Clerk and start a hobby. One thing I really enjoy is Arts and Craft. So needless to say it has something to do with the Arts. I sculpture miniature fantasy figurines, birds and animals. During this time I also taught myself how to build simple basic websites so I added that into my line of hobbies too. Please take a look at my other hobbies.
